Scarborough Primary School has had a long association with the World Vision Kids Hope Australia Mentoring Program coordinated by Chad Power from the Scarborough Baptist Church.
School Mentors provide a unique service for selected students who may not otherwise have the opportunity to establish sustained stable relationships with an adult or who may have few significant adults in their lives. Some students have had the same mentor for a number of years and look forward with anticipation to their weekly “mentor day”.
Mentors are able to engage in incidental, relaxed conversation while doing an activity with a student one-on-one and form relationships which are outside the time and scope of school staff, so fill a vital need in our school.
Participation in the mentor program is via teacher nomination and parental permission.
